insensibility caused by ignorance, who holds a crystal garland in the hand,
who is seated on the lotus, and who blesses the devotees with knowledge.

Free Translation
Oh Goddess Sarasvati, shArada,
the one who bestows knowledge, I prostrate thee. You hold vINa and
books in your hands, and are adorned with garlands made of precious gems; you
are taken care of by brahma, born (from the naval of) viSNu, you possess a
beautiful neck, resembling a conch, studded with precious gems; your pair of
feet are worshiped by the Gods; you are lustrus as the moon.

There is no composition in this rAgam by either dIkSitar or shyAma
sAstri. The rAga mudra “sarasvati”, is right there at the first phrase
of the pallavi.
