Mani Krishnaswamy

One of the senior women vocalists of today, Mani Krishnaswamy has the unique distinction of learning from several stalwarts. She had her initial training under Jalatarangam Venkataramanayya Chetty and Tirupparkadal Srinivasa Iyengar. Later she joined Kalakshetra, Madras when titans like Tiger Varadachariar and Budalur Krishnamurti Sastri were in the faculty. After getting the diploma of 'Sangeeta Siromani' there, she underwent special training from Mudicondan Venkatarama Iyer in Pallavi-singing and Mysore Vasudevachar for rare compositions. She earned a scholarship from the Government of India for violin, which she continued under T K Jayarama Iyer and Musiri Subramanya Iyer. She is endowed with an attractive voice.
