Budalur KrishnamurtI Sastri
Born at Andanallur near Kumbhakonam, Krishnamurti Sastri had his training in music first under his father Seturama Sastri, who used to give musical discourses and later under the distinguished musicians Konerirajapuram Vaidyanatha Iyer and Harikesanallur Muthaiah Bhagavatar. He was endowed with a very sweet voice that could effortlessly execute the essence of music. But his major turning point came when, inspired by Gotuvadyam Narayana Iyengar, he took to the Gotuvadyam. Very soon, he was acclaimed as a stalwart of this ancient instrument and contributed to its revival and popularity. He served as the Principal of Kalakshetra, the school of fine arts, started by Rukmini Arundale.
