| Born in a family of musician, Kalyanaraman had his initial training in music from his father Srinivasa Iyer. He had the good fortune to hone his immense talent under the illustrious vocalist G N Balasubramanyam, who was a rage in those days. This wonderful combination of musical heritage and intensive training for fifteen years under a celebrated vocalist helped Kalyanaraman master the art. He was easily one of the best disciples of GNB in that, he imbibed the assets of his guru and gave it a stamp of originality too. He could effortlessly render Vivadi ragas and was a good composer himself. |
