Meaning

This k.rti is set in "prathama vibhakti" of the "A" kArAnta feminine noun abhayAmbA, and all instances of the word "She" in this context is attributed to Goddess abhayAmbA. The basic anvayam (word order) is - abhayAmbA (mAM) rakShatu, all remaining words ending in either the syllable "A" (in the pallavi) or "I" (in the ramaining lines) qualify the nominative case "abhayAmbA".

pallavi

May Goddess abhayAmbA, who is the mother of the entire universe,
the one who reflection of supreme self, and who is my mother, protect me.

anupallavi

She is the mother of the elephant faced gaNesha, and of guruguha;
She delights the Lord mayUraAatha (shiva)
She whose palms offer shelter and protection to Her devotees;
She has dark black tresses resembling the color of bees;
She is worshipped by lakShmi and sarasvati, and
She is kalyANi (the ever auspicious)

caraNaM

She protected the devotee nAgaliN^ga;
She wears sparkling necklace made of nine gems.
She illuminated the perceptable universe (dwells in all that is seen);
She is shUlini (one holding a trident), the adroit one at destroying the dualities;
She shines with a blend of red and while colors;
She shines like crores and crores of sUrya;
She resides in the minds of devotees who seek liberation;
She revels in music filled with bhAva, rAga, and tALA (mood, melody and rhythm)
She is m.rDAni, who is adept in bestowing various types of enjoyment;
She is bhavAni, who is adroit at bequeathing the power of devotion;
she is sharvANI, who is the giver of strength (who imparts the knowledge of the traditional path of the shakti worship);
She is rudrANI, who gives worldly pleasures and liberation.

NOTES

Every line in the anupallavi and caraNam end in the syllable "ni" or "NI"- thus yielding tantalizing anyta akSara prAsam. Also, each of these lines consists of only one word!
The last word of the anupallavi contains the rAga mudra kalyANi.

Goddess abhayAmba has been described in various forms such as shUlini, m.rDAni (consort of m.rDa), bhavAni (consort of bhava), sharvANI (consort of sharva), and rudrANi (consort of rudra). All these are names found in lalitA sahasranAmam.

The reference of lakSmi and sarasvati attending on her is repeated here (see the dhyAna k.rti) and brought out in the anupallavi line "Ashrita mA vANI".

DIksitar has used the phrase "bhAvarAgatAlamodini" to describe goddess bAlAmbika in the kalyAni composition "bhaja re re citta bAlAmbikAM"

I am unable to find any clear references to the episode of the devotee nAgaliN^ga mentioned in this song.
