today received Music critic K.S. Mahadevan Endowment award instituted for
Junior Artist playing Carnatic in Foreign instrument from Narada Gana Sabha
during the inaugural function of Narada Gana Sabha’s
December music season.
Dec. 11th - "Ganadarshini" VCD Released by
Carnatica
Smt. Charulatha Mani's new
VCD album "Ganadarshini" was released at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Produced by
Tamil Television Network, France, the VCD contains popular Tamil
compositions rendered by Charulatha Mani. Justice Bhaktavatsalam released
the 1st copy to R. Krishnaswamy (Narada Gana Sabha) in the presence of
Senthuran (Tamil Television, France) and Ramanathan Iyer (Director & Editor,
Carnatica)
Dec. 10th - Bharat Kalachar Annual
Conference
The 17th annual conference of Bharat Kalachar
was inaugurated tonight. L. Subramaniam, Violin maestro received the Viswa
Kala Bharati award from L. Sabaretnam, Director of Chennai Petroleum
Corporation in the presence of the evergreen Mrs. YGP, Chairperson of the
Sabha.
Dec. 9th - Krishna Gana Sabha Fest Inaugural
The 49th festival of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha
was inaugurated tonight by Odissi danseuse Sonal Mansingh. Smt. Padma
Subrahmanyam, Bharatanatyam danseuse gave away the Nritya Choodamani award
to Madhavi Mudgal (Odissi) and Acharya Choodamani to Bharatanatyam guru
Indira Rajan.
Dec. 9th - Vani Kala Sudhakara presenetd
The 25th Isai Iyal Nataka Vizha of Sri Tyaga
Brahma Gana Sabha was inaugurated tonight at Vani Mahal, T. Nagar by Dr.
Prathap Reddy of Apollo Hospitals. The sabha's award Vani Kala Sudhakara was
presented to E. M. Subramaniam, Aruna Sayeeram, A. K. C. Natarajan, Bombay
Gnanam and Srekala Bharath.
Dec. 3rd - Isai Perarignar
Tamil Isai Sangam's "Isai Perarignar" award
for this year goes to noted Bharatanatyam exponent K. J. Sarasa. The award
will be presented Dec. 21st at Rajah Annamalai Mandram during the
inauguration of the Sangam's annual festival.
Dec. 3rd - Brahma Gana Sabha Inaugural & Award
Ceremony
Brahma Gana Sabha's annual festival was
inaugurated last night by B. K. Krishnaraja Vanavarayar, Chairman of
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Coimbatore Kendra. Awards were presented to Sonal
Mansingh (Natya Padmam), K. S. Nagarajan (Nataka Padmam) and Tiruvengadu
Jayaraman (Gana Padmam).
Dec. 1st - Kartik Fine Arts Festival Inaugural
The 30th festival of Kartik Fine Arts was inaugurated by the former
Governor of Orissa, M. M. Rajendran. The title of 'Isai Peroli' was conferred
on the Priya Sisters - Haripriya and Shanmukhapriya and 'Nadanamamani' on
dancer Priya Jayaraman. The D. K. Pattammal Award of Excellence was given to
vocalist Nisha Rajagopal. The Kartik Rajagopal Golden Jubilee Award for
'Best Organizer' went to K. S. Venkataraman of Mylapore Fine Arts Club.
Nov. 25th - Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Fest Opens
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's annual music
festival was inaugurated at the Bhavan's Main auditorium in Mylapore.
