The remembrance day is held on 25th July every
year for THANJAVUR UPENDRAN, famous mridangam vidwan by his family and
disciples. He was born on 6/11/1934, in a family of musicians and freedom fighters. He had his training from Thanjavur Mahalingam Pillai, Raghava Rao and Rajam Iyer. He

Vadalur, Thyagaraja Utsava Committee, Thiruvaiyaru, Naalu Kaal Mandapam Anchaneyar
Utsavam, Thanjavur, etc. He was a staunch devotee of Pujyasri Haridoss Giri Swamigal and accompanied him in his bhajans.
He got many titles and awards such as Kalaimamani. He had a number of disciples, who learnt from him under Gurukula
