Venkataraman is a graded artiste of AIR . He is a wonderful
soloist plus a good accompanying artiste for Bhajans and vocal concerts. He
is an acknowledged accompanist in the troupe “Mahaperiyava” led by the
Ghatam maestro, T H Vinayakaram. He is a regular accompanist for dance companies like “Chhanda
Dhara” of Shefali Nag of Germany and the internationally renowned
Bharatanatyam artiste, Alarmel Valli.
Pranavanadam is a unique instrumental music ensemble that brings out the
richness of various melodies from the three major musical systems - South
Indian Carnatic, North Indian Hindustani and Western music. Having perceived the
Hindustani and Western music system through a Carnatic ear, an attempt is
made to attune the ear to appreciate by presenting an aesthetic blend of the three
music systems. This innovative effort is made to make the listeners to
experience and enjoy the blend of three major music systems within
the normal duration of a concert. Shamli Venkat blows the breeze of Hindustani on Bansuri (Bass
flute) and Shennai (Pipe) in this team.
He is not only a favourite
of the local audience but has proved his worth even across the seas. His breezy
flute resounds even today in the ears of his fans in Singapore and Germany. He has accompanied
doyens like Ustad Sultan Khan and
Vikku Vinayakaram for their recordings too. Acclaimed star hotels in India have always preferred his solo concerts (both Flute and
Shennai) during special festivals. He is a regular soloist not only in renowned
Sabhas but also
in the in-house cultural events and fairs of Government and non- Government
bodies like the India Trade Promotion Organisation, Chennai. |
