Sudha
Sreenivasan is among the prominent vocalists in the galaxy of
Carnatic music today. She took her initial lessons under her mother
Janani Sarala and is among the fortunate ones who had the
opportunity of getting trained in one of the best Music schools in
the globe. It is none other than the well-acclaimed Kalakshetra.
After obtaining her diploma from that esteemed school, she started
to cruise in musical waters. From then onwards there was no looking
back in her career.
Her unquenchable thirst for Carnatic
music drove her to take advanced lessons from eminent gurus like
Mani Krishnaswamy, T M Tyagarajan, T K Subramanyan and so on. Her
training under the Sangeeta Pitamaha, Semmangudi R Srinivasa
Iyer, prepared her for a melodious and relaxed way of singing and
handling complex compositions with ease.
A singer bestowed with an excellent
shrill voice, she won appreciation wherever she sang. Right from her
childhood she has been her audience's favourite. To list a few, she
won the 'Best child voice' Award in 1983 and was recognised as the
Best Vocalist in the year 1987. Not only that, Sudha Sreenivasan has
won laurels throughout her musical career. She bagged the first
