Parur Sundaram Iyer

    
Born at Parur, Sundaram Iyer studied music under Ramaswami Bhagavatar and his son, Narayana Bhagavatar at Trivandrum. Ramaswami Bhagavatar was a kind master, who gave his best to his disciple in three years of gurukulavasa. Sundaram Iyer was a dedicated and hardworking pupil who soon developed a style of his own. He was actively engaged in founding the Tyagaraja Sangeeta Vidwat Samajam, Madras. He taught violin at the Madras University for over a decade as a lecturer and later as a Professor. He was a respected artiste, versatile in both the Carnatic and Hindustani systems of music.
