A disciple of Kalakkad Ramanarayana Bhagavatar, Arunachalam also trained under the Nagaswaram wizard T N Rajaratnam Pillai. Next only to Rajaratnam Pillai, he was a very popular and much sought-after nagaswaram artiste. He imbibed the vocal and instrumental styles of his gurus. However, he died at the height of his popularity.
